Report on Nature Project – ‘Raanbhaji’

The Young Explorers Nature Club of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya (English Medium School) (Secondary Section) organized an engaging and educational project competition for the students of Std. 8 on the topic ‘Raanbhaji’ – Forest Vegetables. The initiative aimed to reconnect urban children with their cultural and environmental roots, helping them understand the importance of seasonal and native vegetation, as well as the nutritional value these wild vegetables hold.

This was a group project, and each group selected one type of Raanbhaji to study and present. The students created informative charts detailing the scientific and common names of the plants, and also brought samples to school. Among the vegetables showcased were Phondshi, Takla, Alu, Kurdu, Shevga, and Alambhi (Mushroom). In addition to displaying the plants, the students also prepared a variety of nutritious dishes made from these vegetables, highlighting their culinary value.

The charts, vegetables, and dishes were displayed for the school community, attracting much interest and appreciation. This project was  judged by Mrs. Mithilesh Singh tr. Mrs. Shashi Gupta tr. The students’ efforts were acknowledged and certificates were awarded to all participants as a token of appreciation and encouragement.

The entire project was guided and supported by Mrs. Anjalee Bhoj, whose efforts ensured the success of the initiative. Her guidance helped students gain not only knowledge about native vegetables but also a deeper appreciation for local biodiversity and traditional food practices.

This project served as a meaningful learning experience and left the students enriched with knowledge, awareness, and a renewed respect for nature’s bounty.
