Library Week Celebration at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School Secondary Section
The school celebrated Library Week on August 12th, coinciding with National Librarians’ Day in honour of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India. The event aimed to promote reading habits, introduce students to varied genres, and highlight the value of the school library.
Three engaging activities were organised:
Std. V – CD Coaster: Library Rules – Students decorated old CDs with important library rules, combining creativity with awareness.
Std. VI – Book Tasting Menu – Students explored books from different genres, noting their impressions in a menu format to encourage diverse reading choices.
Std. VII – Bookflix –
This Netflix inspired reading display is a great way to get children excited about a range
of different books and encourage them to be more adventurous!
A “Bookflix library activity display board” is a creative and engaging bulletin board or display that is designed to mimic the look and feel of a streaming service like Netflix, but with books.
The main goal of this kind of display is to get students and library patrons excited about reading by presenting books in a familiar and visually appealing way.
Instead of TV shows and movies, the display showcases book covers. These are often organized
under headings that mirror Netflix’s categories, such as: Trending Now, Top Picks , New Releases,
Award Winning, coming soon and suggestions for you.
The best entries will be awarded with certificate
The celebration successfully fostered a love for reading and encouraged students to use the library more effectively. Special thanks to our library teacher, Mrs. Archana Jedhe, for her efforts in planning and organising the event.
