‘An informed consumer is the most powerful asset of a nation.’
The Consumer Club of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section) organised an informative lecture for Std. VIII students on 11th November 2025. Members of the Mumbai Grahak Panchayat – Mrs Potdar, Mrs Pitale and Mrs Parchure – addressed the students on consumer rights, cybercrime and responsible advertising.
The programme began with an introduction by our teacher Mrs Harsha Chavan. The speakers explained the Rights of Consumers and stressed the need to stay alert while purchasing products by checking expiry dates, quality marks and warranty details. They then introduced students to common cyber threats such as phishing, identity theft and online fraud, and highlighted safe online practices and government complaint portals.
In the final segment, students learned how advertisements influence consumer behaviour. The speakers encouraged them to evaluate advertisements critically and avoid misleading claims.
The lecture concluded with a Vote of Thanks by our teacher Mrs Madhura Dabir. The session helped students become more aware, responsible and informed consumers.
