Educational visit to Tilak Mandir Library
On 20th December 2025, an educational visit to the Tilak Mandir Library at Vile Parle was organised for the members of the English Literary Club ‘Enrich’ from Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section).
The students were warmly welcomed by Mrs Medha Limaye, the coordinator, along with the librarian, Mrs Manjari Vaidya. A guided tour of the library was conducted, during which the students were introduced to the library’s vast collection of over 80,000 books. The classification of books, various sections of the library, reference books, and magazines were explained in a simple and engaging manner. The students were also shown the smallest book in the collection. The organisation and functioning of the library were clearly explained, enhancing the students’ understanding of library systems.
Special attention was drawn to the exclusive sections dedicated to Lokmanya Tilak, P. L. Deshpande, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. These sections left a lasting impression on the students and deepened their appreciation for history, literature, and great personalities.
The most enjoyable part of the visit was the opportunity given to the students to freely choose books from sections of their interest. The budding readers were seen deeply engrossed in reading, and the library atmosphere was filled with quiet enthusiasm. Many students were so absorbed in their books that they were reluctant to leave the library.
The visit was concluded on an inspiring note, reinforcing the importance of reading and lifelong learning.
As aptly said, “A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life.” The visit proved to be a memorable and enriching experience, nurturing the students’ love for books and reading.
