Report on First Aid Training Program by Indian Red Cross Society
Date: 18th and 19th January 2024
The First Aid Training Program was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society for the members of Science Club ‘Eureka’. The program aimed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of first aid to the students. The training was conducted by Dr. Swati Kale from the Indian Red Cross Society. During the two-day program, a total of 49 students were trained by Dr. Swati Kale.
The training encompassed both theoretical and practical aspects of first aid. Dr. Swati Kale covered various theory topics related to first aid, including the definition and importance of first aid, golden rules of first aid, the structure and functions of the body, blood circulation, wounds and hemorrhage, respiration, fractures, dislocations, burns and scalds, heart attacks, bites from rabid animals, artificial respiration, external cardiac compressions, and CPR.
Apart from the theoretical knowledge, the students were also provided with practical training. They were given bandages and Dr. Swati Kale demonstrated how to properly tie a bandage on different parts of the body in case of injuries such as the skull, arms, jaw, head, ankle, and leg. The hands-on experience allowed the students to gain confidence in providing first aid in various situations.
Upon the completion of the two-day program, the students were awarded certificates by the Indian Red Cross Society.
The First Aid Training Program conducted by the Indian Red Cross Society was highly beneficial for the students. The program enhanced their understanding of first aid principles and equipped them with the necessary skills to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies. The combination of theoretical lectures and practical demonstrations ensured a comprehensive learning experience for the students.
