Sanskrit Day Celebrations at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section)
World Sanskrit Day or Vishwa Sanskrit Diwas is celebrated on Purnima Tithi (Full moon) of Shravana month every year. It serves as a tribute to the birth anniversary of Paṇini, a distinguished Sanskrit scholar and grammarian. It is a Government initiative to conserve, preserve and popularize India’s vibrant language – Sanskrit. It was celebrated in Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section) on Friday, 1st September 2023. A beautiful program was organized in the school hall to commemorate the day.
The program began with a prayer to Goddess Saraswati followed by the lighting of the lamp.
The lamp was lit by our Chief Guest Dr. Medha Limaye, Madam Janhavi Khandekar, HM Mrs. Smita Biwalkar, and Deputy HM Mrs. Yamini Dalvi.
A prayer was offered by the students. They were trained by Ms. Diksha Waroshe, our Sanskrit teacher.
We were honoured to have Shri Hemant Bhatkhande Sir, the Secretary of the Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association, as our Guest of Honour. We also welcomed Chief Coordinator, Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association, Madam Janhavi Khandekar as a distinguished guest. Headmistress Mrs. Smita Biwalkar welcomed the dignitaries with a bouquet of flowers.
The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. (Mrs) Medha S Limaye, a retired Sanskrit Teacher and currently the Secretary of Brihan Mumbai Ganit Adhyapak Mandal, Mumbai. Dr. Limaye holds a graduate degree in Mathematics and has conducted extensive research in the field. She has published two books and presented numerous papers on the subject.
The Sanskrit day commenced with the students of Class IX Aarya Yadav and Saanvi Gersappa delivering a dialogue highlighting the importance of celebrating Sanskrit Din. Following this, Dr. Iyer Sridhar, our Sanskrit teacher gave an informative speech emphasizing the significance of celebrating Sanskrit Day and discussing various Sanskrit-related activities held in our school. The Chief Guest was then briefly introduced by our student, Drishti Joshi.
Dr. (Mrs) Medha. S. Limaye delivered an enlightening speech on taglines in Sanskrit and their applicability in various contexts. The talk was informative, and students could relate to the different taglines explained by the speaker, such as असतो मा सद्गमय।
The program concluded with the viewing of a short animation film in Sanskrit. The Sanskrit rendering of the script and dialogues was written by Dr. Vidnyapana Gokarankar, our Sanskrit Teacher, and was skillfully rendered by our students. The movie was enjoyed by all. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Vidnyapana Gokarankar.
The program concluded with a prayer delivered by our students and guided by Miss Diksha Waroshe, our teacher.
