Stress Management and Study Skills: An Interactive Session for Class 10 Students and Parents

An enriching and interactive session on Stress Management and Study Skills was conducted on Saturday, 20th September 2025, for the students of Class 10 along with their parents. The session was jointly led by Counselor Mrs. Meghana Barve Deshmukh and Occupational Therapist Dr. Mugdha Wagh Shaan. It was a full house, with enthusiastic participation from both students and parents.

Dr. Mugdha Wagh Shaan highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during the crucial months before the board examinations. She emphasized following a proper diet—avoiding sugar and refined flour—and ensuring adequate sleep by going to bed by 10:30 p.m. She guided the audience through relaxation techniques such as chanting Om, laughing exercises, and breathing practices. Practical demonstrations of hand exercises to improve writing speed and “zooming in and out” alphabets for better concentration were conducted, offering students simple techniques they can even use during exams. She further stressed the significance of proper digestion, regular evacuation, staying hydrated, and avoiding tea, coffee, and aerated drinks for overall well-being.

Counselor Mrs. Meghana Barve Deshmukh engaged the students and parents with effective study skills and emotional management strategies. She explained the importance of creating a realistic timetable and using play-way learning methods such as the read–write–solve technique, along with charts and visual aids for subjects like Mathematics and Science. She also addressed common emotions faced by students during exam preparation—fear, frustration, anger, and fight-or-flight responses—while suggesting ways for both students and parents to recognize, manage, and overcome these challenges. The importance of motivation and positive affirmations was reinforced to help students build confidence and resilience.

The session was highly interactive, with active participation from the audience. Parents, students, and teachers shared their feedback, expressing deep appreciation for the practical tips, live demonstrations, and motivating discussions.

Overall, it was an insightful and motivating experience that equipped participants with valuable tools for both stress management and effective study habits.
