“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”
– Khalil Gibran

The Vanmahotsav Week was celebrated at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section) from 1st July, 2023 to 7th July, 2023 by the members of the ‘Young Explorers Nature Club’.

The primary objective of this event was to instill in the students a deep understanding about afforestation and develop a better understanding about the significance of trees and forests, while emphasizing on the need for conservation, preservation, and protection of the environment.

The week-long series of events commenced with an enriching talk on Vanmahotsav by Yashvi Surve from XD.

A captivating nature walk was organised in Swatantra Veer Savarkar Garden, where Mrs. Renee Vyas , a practising naturalist,  familiarized the students with the various types of trees and plants.

A series of other educative activities further enriched the week’s festivities.
One such activity featured a soulful Marathi song, performed by Shravani Wagle from IX-C, which eloquently paid tribute to the beauty of nature during the monsoon season.

A vibrant fancy dress competition too was organized for the students of Std VI, on the theme  ‘The Elements of Nature.’
The winners of this competition were Ananya Dave from VI-A, Mahati Patil from VI-A, Varad Lanjekar from VI-D, and Samarth Dabade from VI-D.

“He who plants a tree. Plants hope.”
– Lucy Larcom
As part of the Vanmahotsav week, a sapling plantation workshop was conducted by our teacher and Nature Club advisor, Mrs. Nita Banavali. This workshop provided the students with fundamental knowledge of pot culture and guided them on the proper techniques of planting saplings.

The grand culmination of the week’s festivities took place with a Sanskrit song on water cycle, composed by our teachers, Dr. Vidnyapana Gokarnkar and Miss Diksha Waroshe.
Sung by Madhura Mashankar from VIII D and Kapil Korgaonkar from IX C, while being accompanied on the guitar by Malhar Joshi from X C and on the harmonium by our teacher, Miss Diksha Waroshe. What a mesmerising experience it was!

The commemoration of the Vanmahotsav week by the Young Explorers Nature Club at Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section) fostered a sense of pride and responsibility among the students, reaffirming the significance of environmental conservation and sustainability.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Nature Club Advisors, Mrs. Kavita Kapoor, Mrs. Nita Banavali, Mrs. Anjalee Bhoj,
Mr. Kalpesh Satra and Mrs. Shashi Gupta, for conceptualising and successfully organising these activities.

Save Trees! Save Planet Earth!
