Young Trailblazers: A Visit to Maharashtra Nature Park

“To understand the Earth, one must first listen to the quiet lessons of the forest.”

On 25 November 2025, 48 Nature Club students of Standards VII and VIII and teachers Mrs. Anjalee Bhoj and Mr. Kalpesh Satra from Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section) embarked on an enriching visit to the Maharashtra Nature Park (MNP). Developed on an erstwhile garbage dumping ground, MNP is now rich in biodiversity and is surrounded by the mangrove forests of the Mithi River.

Upon arrival, the day began with an audio-visual session on the efforts made by environmentalists to convert a dumping ground into a beautiful man-made forest. After the interactive session, students were taken for a nature trail where they observed various species of plants, insects, and butterflies in their natural habitats. The vermicomposting method, a natural and eco-friendly way to manage wet waste, was explained to them in detail. The children also observed flocks of migratory seagulls in the mangrove forests of MNP.

Students later visited the plant nursery, where they enthusiastically bought saplings of medicinal, flowering, and ornamental plants at very reasonable rates.

This trip had a profound impact on our young minds, highlighting the importance of nature and its conservation.
