National Science Day celebrations at PTVEMS (Secondary Section)
National Science Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and scientific spirit on Thursday, 5th March 2026 in the school hall of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section). The programme was organised by the Eureka Science Club to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C. V. Raman and to promote scientific curiosity among students.
The programme began with a welcome and introduction, where the Science Club students warmly welcomed the respected Chief Guest, teachers and students. The significance of National Science Day and the importance of developing a scientific temper among young minds were highlighted.
This was followed by the introduction of the Chief Guest, Dr. Nikhil Ramesh Rao, an alumnus of the school. The students expressed pride in welcoming him back to his alma mater to guide and inspire them.
The Headmistress then delivered an inspiring speech on this year’s theme, ‘Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat,’ which reminds us that India’s progress depends on equal opportunities and equal participation in science and innovation.
A special highlight of the programme was the ‘118 Elements Song,’ presented by the students. Through music and rhythm, the students creatively introduced the names of all the elements in the Periodic Table, making learning both educational and enjoyable.
Students also performed a science skit titled ‘Dr. Google vs Real Science,’ which conveyed an important message about the difference between blind belief in internet information and true scientific understanding based on observation and experimentation. The skit was highly appreciated by the audience.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Nikhil Ramesh Rao (MBBS, M.D. – General Medicine, D.M. – Nephrology), then addressed the gathering. He spoke about his journey from his school days to becoming a doctor and expressed heartfelt gratitude to his teachers. In his informative session, he explained the importance of kidneys in the human body, the causes of kidney failure and the significance of organ transplantation. He also emphasised the need to spread awareness in society about organ donation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Headmistress, teachers and students for making the celebration meaningful and successful.
The National Science Day celebration proved to be an inspiring and enriching experience for all students and encouraged them to develop a deeper interest in science, innovation and scientific thinking. We thank our Science Club Advisors Mrs. Smruti Mogrey, Mr. Rajendra Sanga, Mr. Deepak Patel and Mrs. Aditi Agashe for the smooth conduct of the programme.
