Report on session on Compassionate Connections: Building Empathy Towards Animals

On 6th March, an awareness session titled ‘Compassionate Connections: Building Empathy Towards Animals’ was conducted for the Nature Club members of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School in collaboration with the RESQ Charitable Trust organisation.

RESQ, an organisation dedicated to providing first aid and rescue services to injured birds and animals, guided the session.

Members of the Nature Club from Standards VII and VIII were sensitised towards the welfare of animals. They were encouraged to develop compassion and understanding of the fact that animals too experience pain and require care, protection and responsible support through food, shelter and veterinary assistance.

An engaging audio-visual interactive session was conducted, through which students were introduced to modern methods used in animal rescue operations. Technologies such as drones with thermal imaging, GPS tracking, smart collars and camera trap data were explained and demonstrated.

Students watched several rescue videos with great interest and curiosity. They were particularly fascinated to observe the process through which injured animals were rescued, treated and rehabilitated back into their natural habitats.

The session proved to be highly meaningful and enriching, as the silent voices of animals touched the hearts of the young minds and inspired them to become more sensitive and responsible towards all living beings.
