Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School, Secondary Section observed Lokmanya Tilak Punyatithi on 1 August 2026 with reverence and respect.

 

The programme commenced with the Headmistress, Mrs Smita Biwalkar, offering floral tributes to the portrait of Lokmanya Tilak. This was followed by the observance of silence as a mark of respect.

 

An informative and inspiring speech was delivered by Mrs Sukhada Joglekar, a teacher of the school. She highlighted Lokmanya Tilak’s immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle, education and social awakening.

 

Neeraj Ashish Raut of Standard VIII-C recited the poem ‘Lokmanya Tilak – The Eternal Flame of Freedom’, composed by the Supervisor, Mrs Vinitha Nair. The poem paid tribute to Lokmanya Tilak’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle and highlighted how his ideals inspired the establishment of the Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association.

 

This was followed by a story narrated by Mrunmayee Malik of Standard VII-C, which brought out Lokmanya Tilak’s deep thirst for knowledge.

 

An energetic and spirited Powada was then presented by the school choir on the life and work of Lokmanya Tilak, filling the atmosphere with patriotic fervour.

 

The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the Story Writing and Expansion of Ideas Competitions. The winners were felicitated by the Headmistress, Mrs Smita Biwalkar.
