Consumer Club Activity Report
Topic: Consumer Rights and Duties and Festivals, Celebrations and Advertisements
The Consumer Club of Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School (Secondary Section) organised an informative session for the students of Standard VIII on Tuesday, 25th August 2026. The session aimed to create awareness about consumer rights and promote responsible consumer behaviour, particularly during the festive season.
The programme was graced by two eminent speakers, Mrs. Pragati Acharekar and Mrs. Anjali Potdar, from the Shikshan Vibhag of Mumbai Grahak Panchayat. The session began with a warm welcome to the guests by Mrs. Harsha Chavan, Advisor of the Consumer Club, followed by an insightful presentation by the speakers.
Mrs. Pragati Acharekar spoke about the fundamental rights and duties of consumers. She emphasised the importance of being alert, informed and responsible while purchasing goods and services.
Mrs. Anjali Potdar elaborated on the theme Festivals, Celebrations and Advertisements. She explained how advertisements can influence consumer choices, especially during festive occasions, and guided the students on making informed and wise decisions without being misled by advertisements.
The students actively participated in the session and gained valuable insights into their rights and responsibilities as consumers. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mrs. Harsha Chavan, who expressed gratitude to the speakers for their valuable guidance and enlightening session.
The session proved highly beneficial in fostering awareness, critical thinking and responsible consumer behaviour among students.
