Vachan Prerna Diwas: Read. Reflect. Imagine.
“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” — Joseph Addison
Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School, Secondary Section, celebrated Vachan Prerna Diwas on 15th October 2026, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India and eminent scientist. Compered by our teacher and Literary Club Coordinator Mrs. Rathi Pillai, the theme, ‘Read. Reflect. Imagine.’, encouraged students to discover the joy of reading.
Deputy Headmistress Mrs. Vasundhara Pandey inaugurated the programme by garlanding Dr. Kalam’s portrait, painted by Vitthal Chavan Sir.
During Book in a Minute, Kimaya Ingole of Std. VIII, Ananya Sarfare of Std. IX and Purvasha Singh of Std. X introduced their favourite books and recommended them to their peers.
A whole-school silent reading activity brought students, teachers and non-teaching staff together for one full period of reading books of their choice.
The Know Your Library Book Exhibition featured books arranged by age group and genre. The ‘A Book I Recommend…’ Book Recommendation Wall, prepared by Std. VIII students and beautifully decorated by Geetanjali Mahale Teacher and Vitthal Chavan Sir, showcased students’ reading choices on the first floor.
The programme concluded with Mrs. Vasundhara Pandey presenting certificates to the winners of the Library Week activities and the Right to Information competition.
Through shared reading, recommendations and library displays, the celebration inspired students to read widely, reflect thoughtfully and imagine freely.
