National Librarians Day Celebration

Parle Tilak Vidyalaya English Medium School, Secondary Section, celebrated National Librarians’ Day on 12th August 2026, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the father of library science in India. The occasion also marked the beginning of the school’s annual Library Week celebrations, with activities planned to encourage reading, creativity and a love for books among students.

As part of the celebrations, students of Std. V participated in a Word Cloud activity. They selected meaningful words from storybooks and newspapers and arranged them creatively into shapes representing the themes of the stories they had read. The activity helped students connect reading with art and imagination.

For Std. VI, a Reading Passport initiative was introduced to encourage regular reading. Students received a passport booklet and collected stamps for every book they completed, making reading a fun and engaging challenge.

Students of Std. VII participated in Story Weaving through a four-box sequencing activity. They illustrated four different scenes and connected them to create a complete story, helping them understand the sequence and flow of a narrative.

The Library Week celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the grades. The activities provided an enjoyable way for students to explore books while developing their reading, creative and storytelling skills. The celebration highlighted the library as a lively space for learning, imagination and discovery.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our Librarian, Mrs. Archana Jedhe, for thoughtfully planning and coordinating the Library Week activities and for her continued efforts to nurture a love for reading among our students.
